I’m Randi, and I’m a senior history major and English literature minor at Anderson University. This Fall, I will be moving to the mountains of North Carolina to start my M.A. in English at Western Carolina. I’m excited for my future as a Catamount! This blog is an attempt to document my transition from undergrad to graduate student and everything in between. And, of course, to share some of my favorite writers and literary works.

But first, a little about me…

I grew up in Fort Mill, South Carolina–just outside of Charlotte. Growing up in the Carolina Piedmont and spending the last four years in the Upstate, I’ve loved living just a short drive from the Appalachian foothills. While taking a course in Appalachian literature my junior year at Anderson, I found great interest in the genre and the many talented writers within it. Eventually, I intend on pursuing a doctorate in English literature and teaching at the collegiate level.

Outside of reading, I enjoy my cats (I know, I know–of course the English nerd loves cats), drawing, painting, hiking, and kayaking. I’m an INFJ and just a little bit too obsessed with personality tests. I’ll likely die from choking on my own laughter while watching Parks & Rec. I like to say that my personality is a mix of Hermione Granger, Peggy Olson, and Nick Miller. If you don’t know any of these characters, you should do yourself a favor and look them up.
